Core Propositions and Open Questions

The theory in its simplest form

Learning objectives

  • State the core propositions simply.
  • Separate settled architecture from the few remaining open questions.

We have reached the end. Everything that follows is the theory stripped of explanation.

No analogies. No supporting argument. No comparison with other theories. Just the propositions we have arrived at and the questions we still need answered.

1. Core propositions

1. Consciousness is not produced by the brain

Individual Consciousness exists independently of the current embodied organism. The brain/body localizes and expresses it.

2. Global and Individual Consciousness are distinct but not fully separate

Global Consciousness is the larger consciousness field. Individual Consciousness is a persistent distinguishable identity within that field.

3. Individual Consciousness survives embodiment

The same Individual Consciousness can express through more than one embodied life. The 3D personality is temporary. The deeper conscious identity persists.

4. Awareness belongs to Individual Consciousness

Awareness is not created by the brain. The brain influences attention, cognition, interpretation, and what becomes usable in embodied experience.

5. Free will originates in consciousness

Choosing belongs to Individual Consciousness. The brain/body executes and physicalizes the choice.

6. Sequential experienced time arises through embodiment

Global and Individual Consciousness are not fundamentally restricted to ordinary past → now → future succession. The embodied organism creates the lived sequential structure through physical change, memory, prediction, and sensory processing.

7. Global Consciousness contains relational information and possibility structure

Past-oriented information concerns actualized relational history. Future-oriented information concerns open possibilities and probabilities.

8. Future perception is probabilistic, not deterministic

A future impression can represent a strong current trajectory without requiring that trajectory to become the final lived outcome.

9. Access is relational, not spatial

Individual Consciousness does not need to travel to Global Consciousness. Awareness is oriented toward information already accessible through the relationship.

10. Signal and interpretation are different

Consciousness-level discernment recognizes the signal. The brain/body renders it as thought, image, symbol, sensation, emotion, or knowing. The brain then interprets and calibrates the representation.

11. Symbols are not the information itself

Symbols are embodied renderings. Their meaning depends strongly on personal context. Some patterns may be shared, but symbols are not assumed to have one universal dictionary.

12. Group consciousness is a dynamic network

Group consciousness emerges through coupling among Individual Consciousnesses. It is not a separate permanent ontological layer.

13. Embodied and consciousness-level coupling can coexist

People can couple through ordinary physical interaction and, in the working model, directly through consciousness.

14. Individual Consciousness integrates experience across incarnations

It does not need to carry ordinary autobiographical memory.

Integration is modeled as a change in the organization, coherence, refinement, and capacity of Individual Consciousness rather than as a sequential memory file. What persists includes capacities, dispositions, relationships, patterns, discernment, and quality of awareness.

2. Stronger propositions we have not fully settled

These are plausible inside the architecture but should not yet be treated as equally foundational.

A. Coherence affects access quality

This is strongly embedded in our working model. Greater coherence appears to improve clarity, stability, and signal discrimination.

B. Coherence changes probability weighting

This is the strongest and least settled coherence claim. It would mean coherence does more than improve perception and action. It would participate directly in which possibility becomes actualized.

We have not resolved this.

3. Core open questions

These are the questions that still matter enough to change the architecture.

Question 1: What exactly belongs intrinsically to Individual Consciousness?

We currently assign awareness, choosing, discernment, persistence, and integration. But what else belongs there? Personality? Disposition? Relationship structure? A form of memory? Something we have not named?

Question 2: What makes one Individual Consciousness remain the same identity across incarnations?

What is the invariant? What makes Life A and Life B expressions of the same consciousness rather than merely two related consciousnesses?

Question 3: What determines the actualized future?

We currently have possibility structure, free choice, physical conditions, other people, and collective context. But how exactly do these relate?

And does coherence directly change probability, or only improve perception and action?

4. Questions that are no longer central

Some questions that seemed fundamental earlier have largely dissolved.

"Where is Mind?"

We removed Mind as a formal layer. The term was mixing brain-mediated cognition with Individual Consciousness.

"Why would the future be harder to access if consciousness is timeless?"

Because future information is structurally different from past information. The past is actualized. The future remains probabilistic.

"Are symbols universal?"

Not generally. The embodied interpreter matters.

5. Your validation sheet

For each proposition below, mark AGREE · UNSURE · DISAGREE.

  1. Consciousness is not produced by the brain.
  2. Individual Consciousness persists beyond one embodiment.
  3. Individual and Global Consciousness are distinguishable but not fully separate.
  4. Awareness belongs to Individual Consciousness.
  5. Free will originates in consciousness; the brain executes.
  6. Sequential experienced time is produced through embodiment.
  7. Global Consciousness contains relational information and possibilities.
  8. Future information is probabilistic rather than deterministic.
  9. Access is relational rather than spatial.
  10. The raw signal is distinct from its embodied representation.
  11. Symbols are primarily context-dependent.
  12. Group consciousness is dynamic coupling, not another permanent layer.
  13. Cross-incarnational development is integration rather than ordinary memory.
  14. Coherence improves access quality.
  15. Coherence directly changes probability weighting.

The first fourteen describe the architecture we have largely converged on. Number fifteen remains deliberately more uncertain.

The theory is now coherent enough to state simply. The remaining uncertainty is concentrated in a few structural questions: the intrinsic contents of Individual Consciousness, persistent identity across incarnations, and how possibility becomes the lived trajectory.

End

The goal was never to prove a metaphysical theory by conversation. The goal was to make your experiential model explicit enough that it could be understood, challenged, compared, refined, and lived.

We now have that model.
